Ways to give
Every pound stays in the North East
Give once, give monthly, fundraise with friends or partner with us as a business. However you choose to help, it goes straight into homes, hot meals and support for local people.
Choose your way
There are many ways to help
Money, time, furniture or influence — all of it helps someone facing homelessness find safety and hope.
Make a donation
A one-off or monthly gift keeps people safe, fed and supported all year round.
Fundraise for us
Run, bake, walk or host an event — and take a free fundraising pack with you.
Corporate support
Charity of the year, match funding, team challenges and shared impact reporting.
Build a Bed
A hands-on corporate training day where your team builds a bed for someone moving in.
Sponsor our work
Sponsor a supported room, hub meals or immediate access beds for a whole year.
Fund an immediate access bed
£40 gives someone with nowhere to go a warm, safe place to sleep tonight.
Donate furniture
Good quality furniture you no longer need — we'll collect it free of charge.
Shop with us
Handmade and preloved furniture — every purchase funds housing and support.
Leave a gift in your will
After looking after the people you love, a gift in your will helps someone find home.
Donate clothes
Drop clean, wearable clothing into one of our banks across the North East.
Give your time
Hubs, workshop, collections and events — we could not run without volunteers.
Make a donation
See what your gift could do
Every penny goes directly into our housing, hub and outreach work across County Durham and Hartlepool.
Provides hot, nourishing meals for someone in crisis.
Gives someone a warm shower, clean clothes and their dignity back.
Funds a safe, warm immediate access bed for the night.
Helps someone move from the street towards a home of their own.
These amounts show what your donation pays for in real terms. Donations go into our general funds rather than being ring-fenced to one particular bed or meal — that way we can put yours wherever the need is greatest that week. It still does exactly the work described here; pooling it simply means we can respond to whoever comes through the door.
Cornerstone is a registered charity (No. 1145726). UK taxpayers can add 25% with Gift Aid.
Gift Aid
Make your donation worth a quarter more
If you're a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid lets us claim back the tax you've already paid on your donation. It costs you nothing and takes one tick of a box.
- Adds 25p to every £1 you give, at no extra cost to you
- You just need to be a UK taxpayer — tick the box when you donate
- One declaration can cover your past four years of giving
- A £40 immediate access bed becomes £50 of support — for free
Giving FAQs
Questions about giving
Can't find what you're looking for? Get in touch and we'll be glad to help.
Where does my money actually go?
Straight into our housing, hub and outreach work across County Durham and Hartlepool. We're a local charity, so there's no head office elsewhere taking a share.
Can I give monthly instead?
Yes, and it's the most valuable kind of support we receive — regular gifts let us plan ahead and commit to people for the long haul.
Can I say what my donation is spent on?
You can. Let us know if you'd like your gift to go towards immediate access beds, hub meals or the workshop, and we'll make sure it does.
Is Cornerstone a registered charity?
Yes. Cornerstone Supported Housing & Counselling is a registered charity, number 1145726.
Can my business support you?
Absolutely — through donations, match funding, sponsorship, team fundraising or a Build a Bed day in our workshop. Have a look at our corporate support page.
I'd rather give something other than money.
Furniture, time and skills are all hugely welcome. We collect good quality furniture free of charge, and we always need volunteers in our hubs, shops and workshop.
