World Homeless Day 2026
As the darker nights roll in and the colder weather starts to arrive, our teams across the North East are preparing for what is always our busiest time of year.
World Homeless Day takes place on 10th October, and it’s an incredibly important date for us. It gives us an opportunity to raise awareness of the reality of homelessness in our communities, while also raising vital funds to help provide immediate access accommodation for people who have nowhere else to go.
Our plans for World Homeless Day
This year, our teams have some big plans across the North East.
In Hartlepool, our Homeless Response Teams will be taking to the streets with one clear aim – to have nobody sleeping on the streets on the morning of World Homeless Day. Our teams will be working through the night to find and support people who are rough sleeping or in housing distress and help them access somewhere safe.
Over in Bishop Auckland, our team will once again be joining forces with Tesco for a World Homeless Day Sleepout, giving staff, partners and supporters the opportunity to experience just one night outside while raising vital funds for people facing homelessness.
Our workshop team will also be getting involved, opening the doors for a unique fundraising event focused on helping fund our emergency and immediate access accommodation.
Help us make a difference
There’s lots more to come over the next few weeks, with different ways for individuals, businesses and organisations to get involved.
Keep an eye on our social media pages for updates, share what our teams are doing and get in touch if you would like to support World Homeless Day.
Every donation and every bit of support helps us continue providing somewhere safe for people who otherwise may have nowhere else to go.
Let’s end homelessness together. 💙🧡
