About Cornerstone

Everyone deserves a second chance

An independent homelessness charity dedicated to making a real difference across the North East. With over 22 years of frontline experience, we understand the realities of homelessness and work directly with people who are rough sleeping or experiencing housing distress.

Our mission

No one should have to face homelessness alone

Our mission is to end homelessness together by working alongside organisations, charities and local services to ensure people experiencing homelessness can access the best possible support when they need it most.

Homelessness is our sole focus. Through our two Homeless Hubs and unique housing pathway, we support people from emergency accommodation through to independent living, with the right support and opportunities at every stage.

At the heart of our charity is our workshop, creating opportunities, building confidence and generating vital funds to support our work across the North East.

How we work

Local, practical and stubbornly hopeful

Cornerstone was born here in the North East, and we’re proud to remain rooted in the communities we serve. Every pound raised has a direct impact on the support and housing we can provide to people experiencing homelessness within our local communities.

  • We meet people where they are, without judgement
  • Every service is rooted in the North East, for local people
  • People with lived experience shape how we work
  • We stay involved long after the front door opens

Cornerstone didn't just give me a roof, they gave me purpose. Working in the workshop, I found my feet again.
