North East charities teaming up to help end homelessness

Cornerstone will gain discounts on great fixtures and fittings for its supported homes thanks to a new relationship with a charity that recycles household goods and furniture.

Cornerstone housing manager Natalie Lithgo visited CDFHS and agreed on a discount scheme with Chief Executive Officer Steve Mitton on Friday last week, after hearing about his charity and how Cornerstone could help and benefit themselves.

The deal would see Cornerstone gain discounts for furniture, white goods, bedding, paint, and everything else needed to make its homes more welcoming for people arriving homeless.

Natalie, who placed orders for a fully PAT tested fridge freezer, and a washing machine and a bundle of  bedding after the meeting, said: “Everyone at CDFHS was really welcoming and we are delighted that this discount agreement will help homeless people arriving at Cornerstone have access to all they need to make a happy, comfortable home.”

The registered charity based in Chilton, County Durham aims to relieve poverty, promote equal opportunities, and will help anyone in need.
