MP for North West Durham Richard Holden and his assistant Doug Oliver took time out of a very busy day of regional visits to drop in on Cornerstone’s joinery factory and Learning and Training Centre last week.
The MP and his aide were shown around by board member Heather Lee, workshop manager Jeff Malpas and communications editor Phil Hardy.
Mr Holden met volunteers Derek Smith and Niall Vasey and heard about the charity’s hard work to tackle homelessness and poverty via its effort in industry, providing professional and accredited volunteer training and backing it up with empathetic support work.
He has pledged to support Cornerstone in its bid to win funding vital to its future projects and expansion of its services.
